Biostatistics is a job field in which college students are instructed in the proper ways of applying statistical research and techniques to solve problems. They are shown how to analyze experimental results and surveys to obtain necessary information. Biostatisticians will use various statistical techniques to help discover inferences about a number of life science issues.

Students are also trained in both the design and development of the methodologies needed to properly conduct surveys and experiments. Once they understand how to extract the necessary results and data they must then learn how to apply the information to help resolve many types of problems related to biological sciences or other public health concerns. This job is one that brings an enormous amount of self-satisfaction and pride, and it is a career with an exceptionally bright future.

Biostatisticians are highly recruited by many different institutions including hospitals, government agencies, research firms, large drug manufacturers and by the military. As a specialist in the field of biostatistics, there are many opportunities to work in a medical research job or to be part of a team that is conducting epidemiological disease studies. These jobs will generally offer excellent benefits and there are very good career advancement opportunities available. The pay scale for this type of job can range from $55,000-to more than $100k per year for these talented, technically trained individuals.

Although an individual can earn a BS in Biostatistics at a number of well respected college campuses, this is just the beginning. Northeastern University, Duke, Cornell, Emory University and Harvard all have excellent programs that will lead students to a good career.

Most of the job opportunities are so highly specialized that the employers prefer to hire people who have additional education beyond the basic undergraduate courses. The opportunities and job market widens considerably for those with advance degrees in this field. Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Smith Glaxo Kline are only three of the companies vying for employees with expertise in biostatistics.

There are Master’s and Doctorate programs available that give students a chance to earn their advanced degrees and pursue the job of their choice. In order to be admitted into a graduate school a student generally must show that they have the appropriate educational background that will give them a good chance of successfully completing the program requirements and moving into a rewarding and high paying career.

It is preferred that the applicant has an undergraduate degree in either biostatistics, mathematics, health science, or one of the other pure science disciplines. This is not to say that students with degrees in other disciplines will not be considered. However, it is more difficult for them to gain admission to these programs.

Some individuals will return to college and take some additional math and science courses, and then reapply to the graduate school of their choice. With a stronger educational background in science and math, their chances for admission will be greatly improved.

A GRE combined score of 1000 is another requirement that must be met. A GPR of at least 3.0 is the minimum GPA that most schools will accept from a student who wishes to have a real chance of being accepted for a graduate level opening.

Even though most of the graduate schools across the country list 1050 as the minimum combined score for the quantitative and verbal sections of the GRE scores in the 1200-1350 range are the ones that they are really searching for. If an international student is applying for admittance to a biostatistician graduate program, they must show either their IELTS or TOEFL score. TOEFL scores must be at least 600 and the minimum score on an IELTS is a seven.

People who are aspiring to work in a job as a biostatistician, or are applying to a graduate program in biostatistics, will have to show that they are fluent in at least one major computer language. Calculus and other advanced mathematic courses are additional requirements that must be met at the undergraduate level. In some instances, the schools may accept a limited number of very promising students who do not meet all of the educational course pre-requisites. They will be given the opportunity to complete these courses during their first year of graduate study.

The job of a biostatistician is extremely detailed and complex. There is work that must be done which will involve basic experimental research and logging of data, but there is a lot more involved. These people have a career in which they are responsible for producing tables, graphs, charts and other clinical documents related to their particular sphere of research. Documentation, analyses and proper statistical methods are going to be used at all times in this job field, and attention to detail is crucial. Individuals who choose this type of career must be meticulous, thorough and patient so that no important fact is inadvertently overlooked.

It is very common for the job requirements to include specific statistical expertise and highly technical skills. For instance, a biostatics assignment might need someone who is very familiar with clinical study analyses. The job may require an individual who understands the meaning of interim analyses, multiplicity, cross-over, non inferiority, covariate and subpopulations.

In addition, biostatisticians frequently are asked to perform analysis of multivariate or mixed linear models. They may also be asked to conduct categorical data analysis, robust estimation or survival analysis. This type of job consists of many extremely complex tasks and only people with intensive training in the biostatistics field are going to be able to handle them successfully.

First some context about the TEFL/ESL/TESOL labour market to think about. The market for English language learning in the world is booming. Compare the world now with that of twenty years ago. Communism in Russia and Eastern Europe is in its death throes, China is beginning the transition to capitalism, South America is emerging from a decade of turmoil and dictatorship, the EEC is deciding to become the European Union, the Internet and email is in its infancy, but expanding rapidly. All these global changes since then have unleashed the force of English as a global language and it is vital to understand that there are billions of dollars spent on learning it every year. It’s time to bring some of those dollars your way.

Yet why when there are billions of dollars spent on English learning every year, do jobs still advertise only a thousand US dollar salaries a month? Well, unfortunately the labour market for TEFL/ESL/TESOL attracts people from Western countries who, because of their desire to live abroad, are happy to live on nothing. The economic reality is that wages in TEFL/ESL/TESOL are dragged down as a result. The secret to high TEFL/ESL salaries are knowing the local English learning labour market. Just follow these eight techniques to land yourself a lucrative, highly paid job teaching English.

1. Get QualifiedIn the supply of and demand for English teachers, teaching qualifications are becoming the rule, not the exception. To stand a chance of getting a job, let alone a high salary, you have to invest the time and money into getting qualified. Entry level TEFL/ESL qualifications comprise essentially of the Cambridge CELTA/CertTESOL. These are month-long training courses that cost around $1500-2000. By 2009, it is clear that the CELTA is becoming the industry norm. This course is worthy of investing in, not only because it will teach you how to teach, but employers now expect it.

To get a salary raise from CELTA/CertTESOL aim to achieve the top grade the course can offer. In CELTA this is a pass B, followed by a pass A, while the CertTESOL does not officially award grades. Achieving above a simple pass shows you’re a competent teacher and you are dedicated to the profession. This may be reflected in a company’s pay scales or can be used by you to negotiate a higher salary. Therefore it is vital to take these training courses seriously and prepare comprehensively for them.

Do not even consider doing an online or distance teaching course. These are a poor investment of your money and are run by unscrupulous organisations keen to manipulate people’s fears of investing a lot of money in an expensive course like CELTA/CertTESOL. But why throw $500-1000 at a course that no school will recognise, let a lone give you pay-related credit for?For CELTA/CertTESOL qualified teachers consider raising your salary through further qualifications. Once you have gained two years experience consider investing in the next level diplomas – these are the Cambridge DELTA/DipTESOL respectively. While both courses require an even larger investment in terms of course costs, you will be rewarded by being eligible for promotion to a role such as DOS/ADOS, with comprehensive pay benefits.

2. Choose Your Country WiselyStudy the market for English learning very carefully. While the sound of a brilliant-white sandy beach close to a school in Thailand does sound tempting, be aware that it is also tempting for thousands of other people and this will be reflected in a low salary. Consider the pros and cons of the following TEFL/ESL/TESOL countries;

3. The Job SearchDo not apply for jobs online through sites such as TEFL.com/Dave’s ESL Café if you are serious about making money. The best job deals are seldom online – it is far better to be proactive and travel to your preferred destination and conduct the job search on the ground. This is beneficial for several reasons. Firstly, you can apply to a range of employers and cherry pick the best deal. Secondly, you can negotiate yourself better terms and conditions by being instantly available. Thirdly, you can suss out the place and language schools to get an idea of whether you’ll really like it there. Forthly, you can scan the market for private students to see how lucrative it is. If you are afraid of travelling far because of the risk, consider this; most money making requires risk (stocks, shares, property etc). This is no different.

4. Choose a Language School Very CarefullyDo not be desperate and go running to large corporate language chains such as English First, International House, Language Link etc. Such schools offer meagre salaries relative to other local professions. How many times do you see big TEFL/ESL schools advertise salaries online? They don’t because they are so low. They have a high turnover of staff, and prefer teachers with no/little experience so salaries are kept at a minimum. Rather than surviving through academic quality, they choose to cash in on their logo/brand perceptions. Instead, scan the local TEFL/ESL market very carefully so you understand how it works and how you can make it work in your favour. While the big chains seem dominant, there are usually a myriad of smaller, better-run, more professional outfits that are looking for teachers. Often, they recruit locally from the expat community, hence their lack of presence online.

5. Get your own clique of private studentsOnce you have established yourself in a private language school in your country of choice, make an effort to get a few private students every week. Depending on the local supply and demand of teachers, you can charge what you want. Private student rates are nearly always significantly higher than school rates. If you are quality, word of mouth often spreads very quickly, and you may have more privates on your hands than you can handle. Keep the most profitable ones and expend with unreliable, poorly paying ones. You don’t always have to be well-established in a local school. If you have just arrived somewhere, simply get out there and advertise.

To make the most out of private students, consider running them as micro-classes with two to three students present. Not only will this be more interesting for you as the teacher, you can grade the prices so each student pays less individually, but as a whole contribute more than a single student. Also, consider teaching private in-company classes as they can be much better paying. Approach companies with your credentials and offer to teach them in their lunch break for several weeks. Make (achievable) promises to whoever is organising in-company English classes, so they can see how effective you are as a teacher.

6. Be Entrepreneurial Do not think of your job being your sole source of revenue. Branch out so you have other means of bringing home money through TEFL/ESL. You have probably already made quite a few classroom handouts. Make them look professional and approach the big three publishers; Pearson Longman, Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press. Even if they decline your ideas they may want you to do other lucrative work for them. Alternatively, if publishers are not your thing, consider selling your handouts online. Everywhere teachers need resources and the online market for TEFL/ESL supplementary handouts is in its infancy.

7. Get PromotedTeachers of English are often astonished to hear the considerable pay gaps between themselves and their superiors, ADOSs and DOSs. If you are in TEFL/ESL for the long haul, gain more experience and qualifications to rise up the career ladder. The perks are often great; more money obviously, better working hours and conditions, a company car even. If you find yourself in a company with no apparent system for promotions; get out. Do not invest your precious time and energy in a company that isn’t going to reward you.

8. Expand your teaching experience through exam courses such as CAE, FCE, TOEFL, and IELTSTo many people, learning English is purely a matter of passing an exam so the next stage in their lives can be unlocked. The Cambridge exams, along with IELTS and TOEFL offer people a standardised level which they must achieve in order to work and study abroad. Gain experience teaching these areas primarily because students are highly motivated to pass such exams. This is reflected in how you will be remunerated. If you have sufficient experience apply to become an examiner for one of these exams. You will be remunerated well and be given an insight into the examinations process, which students will be willing to pay over the odds for.

In conclusion, a high salary teaching English is an economic reality and simply depends on your knowledge of the local TEFL/ESL labour market and how you can turn that knowledge in your favour. Follow the above advice, marketing yourself as an experienced teaching professional in it for the long haul. Strive to be the best you can be; both with your students and your company and you will be rewarded with a salary that makes teaching abroad a very profitable endeavour indeed.

As an English teacher who prepares international students for their IELTS and TOEFL exams I have seen at first hand the dilemma facing these hard working, determined people once they reach university.

The problem is that the Universities accept students with a certain score in the aforementioned language tests but when at the university that has just welcomed them with open arms they find that their ability to write academic English is still not high enough to avoid losing marks through it. Even a student who achieved 8.0 in their IELTS is likely to have enough errors in their coursework that they could drop a grade.

A student’s cognitive ability and grasp of the essay topic often far exceeds their abilities in written English. Should these students simply let their language prevent them from getting the grade they deserve? Or is it fairer that they be put on a level playing field to home students?

Different universities have different approaches to students who get help with proofreading and editing their work before submission. Many clearly recommend it and even provide lists of proofreaders, others have their own in-house service. If in doubt the best advice is always to check with your tutor. For what it is worth having helped hundreds of students with proofreading I have never known one of them have a plagiarism related problem as a result.

21st Century word processing software like Microsoft Word enables the proofreader to mark up suggested changes on the document and the ultimate choice as to whether to accept them or not is down to the student.

The cost of following a three year degree at a UK university can easily exceed £25,000, a huge investment. Imagine then the frustration of not achieving the grade you deserve because English is not your first language! Even more infuriating because the university accepted your level of English based on your IELTS or TOEFL result. When a 3000 word coursework assignment can cost less than £30 to have professionally proofread it’s easy to see why more and more international students are choosing this option.

Knowing that your professional proofreader will ensure your English is clear and well written means they can focus on the content and the quality of their analysis.

Finally, a word on the difference between proofreading and editing: editing is what you begin doing as soon as you finish your first draft. You reread your draft to see, for example, whether the paper is well-organized, the transitions between paragraphs are smooth, and your evidence really backs up your argument. You can edit on several levels: content, overall structure, quality of evidence and analysis, clarity, style and referencing.

Proofreading is the final stage of the editing process, focusing on surface errors such as misspellings and mistakes in grammar and punctuation. Proofreading should only be undertaken after you have finished all of your other editing revisions.

http://www.english-teacher-in-london.com

Whenever we talk about giving TOEFL or GRE or for that matter any other competitive exam, it is typical to feel tensed or nervous. But what is more important is just how we handle this stress. It is true that we have to score if not high, at least a decent score on these tests so as to increase our chances in getting admitted to a good university. But even after studying diligently we may still not score well. At such a time it is imperative to not get depressed or disheartened and instead try again with all the confidence and sincerity. Moreover it is significant to understand that our test scores are not the only ones that decide our chances in getting into good universities. It is the entire package that the admission officers see and that in turn decides the ultimate outcome. For example if you are active in extra curricular activities throughout your academic career then that is an appealing facet of your personality as it shows that you have an insatiable interest of learning new things and are not just a bookworm. Thus it is this quality that helps you stand apart from the rest. So even if you do get low test scores do not get depressed. Concentrate on how you can otherwise present yourself in an appealing light. But do remember that some universities do require a minimum score as their eligibility criteria, especially in TOEFL so do check out every university’s terms and conditions and also carefully scrutinize their course content. You may come across some variations which may ultimately decide your interest in that particular University. So be vigilant while deciding on the University in which you wish to pursue your education and also develop your personality as much as you can so as to befit your interest. It is important to know that it is your uniqueness that ultimately increases your chances to get in the University of your choice. Overcome your weaknesses; acquire skills that truly draw out your personality. Show passion for what you want to learn for in the end it is your fervor and zeal to really gain knowledge that truly matters.

Do you have any plan to pursue your further education abroad? Will you need English for your career or your education? If so, you may wish to investigate your options for learning, or improving, your English skills.
The TOEFL Test: TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) is a test used by many colleges, universities, government agencies and exchange and scholarship programs in the US, UK and Canada as a means of evaluating the language skills of a person whose first language is not English.
You can find TOEFL study guides easily online with other recommended resources listed. You may be able to access some of the sample tests and prepare with personal study. Or you may look for a class with an instructor to help you prepare for the test.
ESL Classes: ESL classes are a common means for students to learn English with group of classmates. These can be in the form of an evening class with various individuals attending or may be part of a college program during the day.
The course length and the topics covered will differ from country to country and school to school. Some summer programs are geared for international students to gain a basic grasp of the language before starting studies in English taught classes of the college or university.
Since the standards of passing a course, or the course material itself, will vary drastically, some students may feel that the language skills gained upon completing the course does not equip them to handle school work or social interactions adequately.
Some schools offer students and alternative of home-stay programs for students. Home-stay programs benefit the student by placing them for several weeks or months with a host family that speaks English. The student is then able to immerse him or herself in the culture and social speaking of the English country they are living in. There are also online ESL programs that may be suitable for distance education, especially if programs are not readily available in your area.
Private Tutors: Another popular method of learning English is with private tutors. The materials and methods used by ESL tutors will vary greatly and it is important to establish what material will be used and to feel comfortable with the tutor. Asking friends or other students for references can be helpful in finding a good tutor.
A combination of these English learning methods will be effective as well. You can take a summer course while staying with a home-stay host family and then arranging for private tutoring during the school year. Making an effort to use your new language skills regularly in social situations will improve your progress regardless of the program or course you are using.

For International Students seeking admission in the United StatesEvery year thousands of international students come to USA for graduation/other higher degrees in Engineering, Medicine, Management, Law etc. , and why not, the best colleges in almost any field are in this great country. The information below is focused on getting a Student visa (often referred as F1 or F-1 visa), some useful information around the college application procedure and prospects after you complete your study are also covered.Visa or immigration document allows a foreign citizen to travel to a U.S. port-of entry (ex Airport) and request permission from the U.S. immigration officer to enter the United States.STEP 1: EXAMS REQUIRED TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR STUDENT VISA: a)Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): English is the national language of USA. Earlier it use to be paper based exam but these days it’s mostly given on the internet from designated centers all over the world. These scores are used by many other countries. Although rare but some English speaking nations may be exempted from TOEFL.b) Specialization specific exam ( Ex: GRE / GMAT / SAT) : Depending on which specific branch or level (Graduation/Under-Grad etc) of ducation, there is a test for that very specific field. Tests centers are all over the world and mostly computer based. A management level applicant will give GMAT, Engineering student will give GRE etc. Depending on these scores there will be a cut-off for each institution to which you can apply. Not all institutions can allow foreign students; they should have permission from USCIS (United States Citizenship and immigration Services) to do so.STEP 2: STUDENT VISA (F-1 Visa) The student should have a non-immigrant intent i.e. he/she is coming to USA genuinely for educational purposes only and not just to enter in the country for immigration purpose. Students must also demonstrate that they have the financial resources to study without the need to engage in unauthorized or illegal employment.Institutions need these following documents* Written application to the school* Institution’s qualification criteria for admission (i.e. TOEFL / SAT/ GRE etc.)* Student’s prior academic record and financial support evidence.* An acceptance letter allowing the student to study.* PassportAfter this institutions can issue Form I-20 needed for F-1 Student visa. Students must take that form to their nearest US consulate along with Passport, Visa fee, Form OF-156 (Application for a Nonimmigrant Visa), documents indicating evidence of financial support and documents proving sufficient ties to home country. One should explore the opportunity of scholarships given by Institutions to some students with high scores or exceptional ability in sports. Also students may qualify to work part time. Check your institution for those details. STEP 3: ENTERING USA At the port of Entry ( ex Airport), the students must present all the documents including passport, I-20, Documents from Institution. The immigration officer after verification will issue an I-94 Arrival/Departure Record that contains a unique number. Keep this document safe, probably attached to your passport. Once you arrive on campus, you should report immediately to the office that is responsible for assisting international students and scholars.STEP 4: LIFE / CAREER AFTER COMPLETING YOUR EDUCATION Often US companies/employers may come on campus to recruit appropriate students for their organization. If you are the one selected then the employer must file for your working visa ( usually referred as the H-1 visa). Good news !! US Govt. has a special H-1 quota presently at 20,000 visa’s (number can change with time) for students who do their graduation in USA. If the student is not offered H-1 visa, and not pursuing studies in USA anymore, the individual must return back to their home country.OTHER STUDENT VISA’s* J-1, or Exchange Visitor. Students participating in an exchange visitor program in the U.S.* M-1, or Student Visa Those who will be engaged in non-academic or vocational study or training.* B-2 prospective student visa A prospective student, who has not yet decided on a school, can later apply for F-1 Visa.Immigration Law’s change very often and sometimes have specific details. It is highly recommended to consult an Immigration Attorney or expert personally to get an update on latest form and procedures before applying for a Student visa. There is very useful information also located at educationusa.state.gov/usvisa.htmSwati A

You’re a recent high school grad or an adult who needs a better career. You’re thinking about going to college or technical school to get training. Great! But you’re unsure of the admissions requirements. What kind of grades do you need? Does life experience count? How about entrance exams? Let’s look behind the scenes and discover what you need to know about admissions to a variety of college and career school programs.

Adult continuing education. These programs are typically offered in the evening and on weekends. They are designed for working adults who want to learn something about a specific topic, such as grantwriting or French literature or gardening. They are offered at a wide variety of institutions from major universities to local community colleges. Generally, there are few entrance requirements other than conversational English and perhaps some prior knowledge of the field.

Advanced courses may require prerequisites or evidence of basic knowledge in the subject. For example, if you want to enroll in a computer networking class, you will have to demonstrate academic knowledge or job experience in computers or information technology.

Diploma programs. These are short-term programs designed to provide the graduate with appropriate professional skills to qualify for entry-level positions in a variety of fields such as dental assisting, medical assisting, criminology, computer networking, auto repair, or massage. The admissions requirements for a typical diploma program are:

1. Be a high school graduate, or

2. Have a General Education Development (GED) certificate, or

3. Have a Home Study certificate that is recognized by the student’s home state.

Evidence of high school graduation may include a General Educational Development Test (GED) certificate (or official notification that a GED has been earned), a copy of a high school transcript indicating the date of high school graduation, a certified copy of an original high school diploma, a copy of a DD214 indicating date of high school graduation, or a college transcript indicating the date of high school graduation.

The General Educational Development Tests are administered by your state government. Typically, the GED includes five tests in the areas of writing skills, reading, science, social studies, and mathematics. The questions generally ask for general knowledge rather than lots of facts or figures. With the exceptions of the mathematics test, which may have open-ended questions, and the writing skills test, which may require you to write an essay, all of the questions on the GED test are multiple choice with five possible choices.

If you don’t speak English very well, you may have to take a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). If you need to improve your fluency, take an English as a Second Language (ESL) program, either before you enroll or during the program. At some schools, ESL programs are offered free of charge.

Associate Degree Programs. Admissions requirements for two-year programs tend to be similar to diploma programs–you need a high school diploma or GED. There are often additional requirements:

1. You may have to sign an enrollment agreement and student information form. The enrollment agreement must be signed by a parent or legal guardian if you are under 18 years of age. 2. A personal interview with an admissions officer is often required. 3. A tour of the campus or online learning environment is encouraged. 4. English language fluency is often required. English abilities can be determined through the college’s interview application process and/or a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). 5. International students may need to meet additional requirements including an acceptable score on the TOEFL. 6. Prior to commencing clinical courses or externship experience, documentation of required health examinations, pathology tests, and immunizations may be required. 7. If you have a criminal record, check with the admissions staff about possible requirements. Before students can be placed in an externship or take professional licensing, certification, or registration exams, the state or other agencies may require criminal background checks.

Bachelor’s Degree Programs. The application process for entry into bachelor’s degree programs can range from easy (your state university system) to very difficult (Harvard or Yale). In general, you’ll need a high school diploma or GED, your high school grade transcripts, letters of recommendation, application fee, and a completed admissions form. Most colleges and universities-but not all-require college admissions test scores (SAT or ACT exam). Some also require a personal interview.

Many students who apply to a prestigious college and don’t get accepted have an alternate plan. They attend a local community college for two years and then apply to the college as a transfer student. This strategy works surprisingly well, and the advantage is that you often pay much less for the two years at community college and still get a degree from the prestigious college.

One of the most intimidating tasks when applying to college can be the admissions essay requirement. You’re often asked to write about yourself, or why you want to attend the college. For many applicants-teens and working adults alike-this can seem daunting. Just remember that the school wants to know about you and if you are bright and inquisitive, or if you are a robot. The school wants to see if you know how to write and communicate effectively. The key is not to rush it. Write your essay well in advance. Put it aside for a few weeks and then look at it again. Does it make sense? Are there typos or errors of grammar? Have someone else read it and comment.

At every school-regardless of program-students are required to make appropriate financial arrangements before the first day of class. This means that you must have paid your tuition in advance or made arrangements with the financial aid office. When you are applying ask the admissions staff about financial aid. They will advise you on your options.

To find the right college or technical school for you, go online to a reputable college directory service. Get free information about programs, career services, and financial aid. Compare three or four (or more!) colleges and apply to the ones that give you what you need.

There are many openings in China for English language jobs. This can be attributed to the booming economy which emphasizes skills and proficiencies in English. English language jobs have been around before, but not to the level that they are now in demand.

Types of English language jobs

1.ESL Teacher – ESL stands for English as a Second Language. The demand for ESL teachers is growing because many Chinese do not consider English as their first language so they need someone skilled in teaching English as a Second Language. Other people who may require the services of an ESL teacher are the children of foreigners who are now flocking in droves to relocate to the China. A good example of foreigners who need ESL teachers badly are the sizeable Korean communities in various parts of China.

2.TOEFL Teacher – TOEFL stands for Teaching of English as a First Language. Many ESL teachers are also qualified to be TOEFL teachers.

3.TESOL – this is relatively new among English language jobs. The acronym stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. But the qualifications are similar to those for ESL and TOEFL teachers.

4.Call center agents – The call center industry is a sunshine industry. Unfortunately, call center clients often require call center agents to speak English with an American twang. This is because some callers refuse to talk to call center agents who have a Chinese accent, even if they speak straight English. Though call centers offer good compensation, some people dislike such English language jobs because they feel the callers from other countries do not respect them, even to the point of calling them names if the call center agents do not meet their requirements for speaking good English.

5.Call center trainors – to produce a good call center agent may require the services of good call center trainors. This offers significantly high pay as English language jobs go though it can be frustrating when the call center agents do not pass the criteria of the call center – meaning, the blame ultimately gets passed to the call center trainor.

6.Journalists – As one of the traditional English language jobs, journalists are always in demand, particularly for graveyard beats such as at police stations. However, the hours journalists keep may be strange and long, and the pay may not meet their needs for a satisfactory lifestyle. As one of the most honorable of English language jobs though, being a journalist offers prestige and recognition that other English language jobs may not provide.

7.Researcher – this is a blanket term for English language jobs that require data-gathering. Some researchers conduct research for corporate purposes, while others work for non-profits. Generally, it requires a level of proficiency in English though other skills such as knowledge of statistics may also come into play.

English language jobs are steadily growing. Hopefully, many Chinese will be able to cash in on this trend.
